Damn! I have been planning on making something like this! My idea is light duty ramp for my old dogs(filled plane) that attaches to the tailgate and stowes there and is also double hinged so you can toss a patio cushion on it to make a tailgate couch!

This is halfway there!

I'm going to make one from an old extension ladder.

Does this bed extender fit inside the bed and under the bed cover? I'm thinking of getting a Maverick and one of the first mods I would want is a square bed extender that wastes as little space as possible when extending the bed and this looks like the best one for that purpose. Is there a way to hinge mount to flip it one way or the other or would it just be sort of sitting freely inside the bed when not in use?

Folds for storage. i Kept mine freely under the cover, or in the rear passenger area, when not needed. (its a bike ramp, too.)
