Have fun. I did my diver's side tonight. It took about 2 hrs. A lot of that time was, making my own speaker bracket out of 3/4" birch. The door panel is quite tight the first time, and I had a problem getting it back on as well. It's best to have window down when putting the panel back on. Now that I know what I'm doing, the passenger's side should be quick. I'll make the bracket before I start. I got Infinity Kappas, and they sounds great. I plan to unhook the OE dash tweeters, as I've never liked highs bouncing off the windshield.

I wouldn't use any type of wood for your speaker brackets. Moisture is going to get into the interior of the door panel, and that will cause the speaker bracket to fail over time. Metra makes a speaker bracket adapter (82-5605) that is supposed to fit the Maverick. I haven't had a Maverick yet for a speaker install, but I picked up a 5605 for my own build when I eventually get my truck and the Morels I've been eying.

Did mine today as well. Driver door took me about 40 min.. passenger side took me 15. Once you get the rear part of the door popped a swift pull works well. I used the metra adapters they worked great.

It's Birch. I'm not worried about it. It doesn't soak up water like MDF. Usually I coat with bedliner, but it's winter, and I wanted it done last night (didn't want to remove door panel again). Also, Crutchfields plastic adaptors are too thick. According to Crutchfield, these speakers do not fit. They fit fine when I made my own adaptor.

I have these same speakers sitting around from a previous car, but Crutchfield says they won't fit the Maverick. Did you have any issues installing them?

They fit great with the metra adapters.. Def a huge improvement. I drilled a hole in adapter to feed wires through

Perfect, thanks a lot. I just ordered a pair of the adapters, so hopefully I can get these installed this weekend.
