I bought one, but before I installed it I used a black sharpie to "paint" the grey plastic around the knobs, and buttons before I installed it.

I may pull mine off and use the sharpie. I thought about that after I had installed it!

Love mine. Really one of the least expensive but best looking dash mods one can do.

Just be aware (if you weren't already) that Sharpies will not only permanently stain that plastic underneath, but probably also propagate yellow discoloration even further out over time. So it doesn't matter how neatly you do the penwork; it is still definitely a scorched-earth move. It may not be an issue at all for you.

Honestly if I were going to try and color the visible gap black, I am not sure how I would do it. Probably something like this stuff drafters used to use... Not perfect since it still has an adhesive, but there are surely many options.
