I purchased this MaxMate soft roll up from amazon, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09TSCYY6D?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

My friends wife had one on her GMC and like it.

I like it has slightly domed cross bars to keep water from pooling on the tarp. It came with a long piece of weather stripping for behind the cab and 2 small pieces to fill the gaps in the plastic bed rail. It also has a 10 year warranty!

Installation was easy and it works as intended. I haven't had it in any real weather yet.
I purchased one of these based on this thread. Installation was pretty straightforward. It's outside in the first real rain since I installed it. We shall see what we shall see in the morning.

But it looks nice and latches well. As I have no prior experience with such things, I don't have any point of comparison (the Mav is our first pickup in a long time, and the others — both Mazdas — both had caps on them when I bought them used).

I intended it to be just a temporary measure until I got a cap for the Mav but I may rethink that.

The cap choice will be a question for another thread.

My wife's Ridgeline and my dad's Ridgeline both use a "Kikito" version of this roll-up, pull-to-release tonneau cover. Both of them are three years old or more, and both continue to work well. Easy to use, both in terms of keeping dirt and dust out of the bed and rolling up so that we can use the entire bed as necessary. The pull-tab release feature is a good design. See also this thread on the forum.

(My wife's has a "Made in USA" tag sewn on it, but I strongly doubt that, having tracked the shipping notice from Nanyang, China.)

The only complaint is that the cross-members that provide lateral support can bump and rattle against the side rail, but that is easily solved with a little application of tape on the support bar and the edge piece where they connect. This only occurs with wind buffeting at certain speeds (40-50pmh in the Ridgeline), as otherwise the cover stays taut and doesn't flop around or sag.

Some water from washing the truck will get in the bed, so it isn't waterproofing for the bed interior. But that is from my foam cannon and pressure washer that I am specifically aiming at the seam with the bedsides, so maybe it does exclude light rain.

Also, the top surface of the tonneau cover accepts both 303 and / or a 9H or 10H ceramic coating. So if you do a ceramic coating, use the leftover to give the tonneau cover a coat, and it will maintain some nice hydrophobic characteristics over time. Even more so if you hit it with 303 first, then the ceramic, which will help it retain the deeper black and the slight moiré pattern in the material. Either way will make it VERY easy to clean.

Also, see this video for a comparo of the hard tri-fold, soft tri-fold, and soft roll-up versions:

How has it been holding up? considering buying it on amazon.

Thanks!

Haven been eyeing some of these ebay/amazon hard tri folds..... for $350-500. I like that the $1100 ones do that 3rd fold up if needed, but they don't seem to be a big deal to take off so I am sure that I think I will be ok spending half.

Well....considering I've only had it for a few weeks, all is well. We've had quite a bit more rain, and taken the Mav on one little trip in the last couple of weeks. I just looked in the bed and it's pretty dry in there.

So...so far, so good.

This is the cheapest one I could find with the one handed cable latch system instead of the cheap looking dual plastic clamps.

I entered 120 in the make an offer thing, they replied back with 127. Delivered to my door, I’ll take it!

ordered the inexpensive soft tri-fold.. just looks faster to remove completely and should be a bit more secure with the cross supports... eventually, will get an A.R.E MX Cap, but this will work in the interim.

You will be pleased with it. The best part is that there are no side rails that protrude into the bed when you take it off.
I scored a new soft tri-fold cover for less than $50 (took a little work but paid off)
