I searched the forums but didn't see this topic. I just purchased a used 2023 Maverick XLT, and now I need to make it my truck, and delete the previous owner.
I just downladed the FORD app, and there is a place in there to make the vehicle mine, and it offers two options:
-Driver reset
-Factory reset

Does anyone here have an opinion on which is the best option? Any other hints about what to do to make this vehicle mine are appreciated.
(I haven't picked up the truck yet.. Should be a few days before the funds clear and he gets the clear title.)

New to this forum and I've already learned so much. Looking forward to finally owning a Maverick hybrid XLT.

Ford System/Module Reset (Soft)
  • Purpose: Fix minor glitches, sluggish system, or screen issues.
  • Data Loss: None. Saves all your settings, profiles, and paired devices.
  • Method: Press and hold the power button (center of volume knob) for about 10-15 seconds until the screen goes black or the Ford logo appears.
  • Alternative Method (SYNC 4): Simultaneously hold the right seek button and volume down button for 5-10 seconds.

Ford Factory/Master Reset (Hard)
  • Purpose: Clear personal info for selling/transferring ownership or repairing major connectivity issues.
  • Data Loss: Deletes all stored data: paired phones, call logs, map favorites, Wi-Fi passwords, and FordPass App connectivity.
  • Method: Navigate in your vehicle touchscreen to Settings > General > Reset > Factory Reset.
  • Important Note: Certain services like navigation and BlueCruise may be inactive for up to 10 business days after a master reset.

Which one should I use?
  • Use a system reset for daily glitches to avoid losing your configurations.
  • Use a factory reset only if selling the car or if the system is completely broken/unresponsive and a soft reset fails.
