It's effective at doing what exactly? Absolutely nothing. It's a wonder I made it to 13,000 miles without a tailgate moisture vent cover.

"Preventing moisture inside my tailgate from evaporating to invite rust". There. I fixed your title.

Yeah, there's one in every crowd.
He has a vendetta against this tailgate hole cover, he made similar comments in another thread.

I thought I recognized his superior wit. 😜

The other six holes at the bottom of the tailgate should be adequate for ventilation/drainage.

What is it printed with? I know if your in a hot environment and you park outside a lot that pla with tend to melt and deform. Especially something so thin. Hopefully it is abs and It will stand a better chance.

I they are printed in petg. EDIT ABS is a little too stiff. Petg is more springy and also heat resistant. Definitely not PLA 🙂

Those are drainage holes for liquid. The big holes you covered are for moist air to vent. Even with these installed, wouldn't you be using a tarp anyhow to cover the gap when loading material? This all because one guy forgot to use a tarp and got pebbles in the tailgate?

I just washed the Maverick, the tailgate is not waterproof. I'm reading these comments, it's going to melt anyhow? This is a comically pointless addition.

I do appreciate your concern and I stand behind the Cover should you have any issues with it.

Granted this summer was not as hot here in Texas as it usually is, but the PETG that I use for Printing held up fine.

The minimum melting point on it is about 350 degrees when printing, so I am hoping it never gets that hot under the tailgate. (I print them at 500 degrees for better layer bond, onto a 140 degree build plate)

I did try ABS and it looked great but was too stiff for the design as we want it to give a little to fit the contour of the tailgate bottom. I would have had to make it thinner which I did not want.

I’ve tried to order both to my home address, and my work address here in Northern Kentucky and both times it says Segarms does not ship to the address. What gives? I really like these.

Do you live in North Korea? He doesn’t ship there.

You're really worked up about what other people are doing to their trucks.

I'd rather potentially deal with rust in 5-10 years than listen to a pebble bouncing around inside the tailgate for 5-10 years.
