On the Ford site, I went through the build process and entered all the choices (engine, drive type, packages, etc. in a spreadsheet). (The text on the Ford site has been published so it cannot be copied, thus I had to enter a lot of text by hand.)
I then ran "Build & Price", "Build your own", "XLT", selected the "4K Tow" package (and made a few other choices). "4K Tow" in part includes:
Package Features Include:
225/65R17 A/S BSW Tires (XL/XLT Only)
Trailer Brake Controller
Trailer Hitch Receiver with 7-Pin ConnectorTransmission Oil Cooler
Higher Capacity Radiator
Upgraded Cooling Fan
Upgraded Drive Ratio (AWD)
The inventory search for the chosen area listed 3 Matches. In the truck details, aside from, say, the default: "Package Equipment Group (300A)", I'm not seeing mention of optional packages, and I don't see, for example, "Trailer Brake Controller", which is part of the "4K Tow" package. Vehicles are listed with: MPG, engine, drivetrain, transmission, exterior, interior, and package (like XLT (300A)). Items are grouped by Exterior Features, Functional, Safety & Convenience, Warranty.
Similarly, when I look at some Ford dealership sites and look at the sticker information, packages like "4K Tow" don't seem to be listed; only individual items.
The functionality of the build & price process is useful, but when I use that to find inventory, things don't match up for specific optional packages, as I mentioned, which is frustrating. Any thoughts?
