One year ago today I ordered my fairly well loaded Lariat from a small town dealer in East Texas. Huge mistake. I received confirmation from Ford on June 23. Dealer has not been responsive and shrugs shoulders claiming ignorance. I have contacted Ford myself and they told me my truck would finally be built week of June 13 but has been pushed back to week of June 27. They also gave me a VIN. The Ford tracker is useless. When I put in my order number and VIN it only shows the order was confirmed, nothing further.

Is there anyone here who placed an order earlier than I and has not received notice that their truck has at least been built? I'm thinking I may be the oldest in the country. I believe there is a thread somewhere that addresses this but I can't find it.

I would like to tell you to “just hang in there”, but I started to lose patience with Ford when they came out with the no scheduling nonsense two weeks in a row. I don’t care if they only schedule 100, do something ! October base hybrid xl with only a drop in bedliner and still no build date. If I get to October with no build date, I will either put some money into my Colorado or just buy the cheapest hybrid car I can find. For you guys who have already waited a year, you have shown amazing patience.

My order was 6/10 and not built yet. Production date changed 6 times since first date May 16th. It is now 7/04 that is a week before the plant shuts down. Do you really think that it will be built that week "HELL NO". Now they have a one month delay in batteries. I have a VIN and this is a First Edition Hybrid.

The good news in all of this is that if you have a VIN you are going to get built for MY22. So, I hate to say it but.. hang in there.

Thanks guys. Yes, I will hang in there as I have nothing to lose, but my situation is different than most. I decided last winter not to wait and bought a nice, new 2022 RTL-E Ridgeline (this is the second Ridgeline I have owned). I love this one as much as I did the first one I bought 15 years ago when they first came out.

Accordingly, I don't need the Maverick. I have not cancelled the order because I figure I should be able to make a few grand pretty easily since I had an agreement below MSRP, before anyone knew how popular these trucks would become. Of course, I have no idea if they will still honor that agreement or try to pull a fast one on me. But if everything goes smoothly I hope to make at least $5,000 on the truck. I will write them a check, get the title and put the Maverick in the garage until it sells. Seems easy as long as the market remains hot for these things by the time I get it. If the market changes I'll just walk away. So the wait has not been a factor for me other than it's just not right. Whatever happens happens and it won't really affect me a whole lot one way or the other.

Ridgeline is a great truck. It's hard to go wrong with a Honda of any type, really.

Definitely don't walk from the Maverick order, but do be aware that the higher the spec (and MSRP) on the Maverick the less room for profit. For example, I sold my XL EB with a $22.5K MSRP for $34.5k. Carvana sells these at $37k, which is crazy. But they also just sold a loaded First Edition Lariat with an MSRP of over $36k for just $40.5k, meaning there was no where close to the profit.

I think if you've got a base Lariat, around $26k, you'll make more than $5,000. If you've got nearly a fully spec'd one at $35k then it is not such a sure thing.

The Maverick Lariat was $35,000 total out the door with tax and fees. I got the luxury package, moon roof, tonneau cover and a bunch of other stuff. It's a hybrid. You are probably right that at that price there is not a whole lot of room to go upwards but $40,000 should easily be reachable - if the market stays the same on these things. To flip, you were in the perfect situation.

I asked dealer to give me a current status. He said the June 27 week has been pushed back to August 1st. Truly outrageous. Even if week of Aug. 1 is correct (which I doubt), it will be 14 months. Of course, he blames everything on Ford and he is probably not far wrong. I just wish his communication with me was better and more timely even if there is not much he can do to speed things up.
