We have had our Maverick for a month now so I just wanted to post some impressions. We came down with COVID-19 the week after buying it which has limited our use of it so we only have about 300 miles on it so far. We are a retired couple who will mainly be using it for local driving and Home Depot runs. It will mainly be my wife's truck which will replace her 16 year old Tacoma.

We have a 2023 Atlas Blue Ecoboost XLT, Lux Package, CP 360.

Positives:

Really like the Atlas Blue but it is a bit darker than I expected.

The base radio is fine for budget pickup truck. In reading threads about the poor radio qualify I suspect that they improved the radio qualify late in the 2022 model year.

It is a lot quieter than I expected and I have no complaints about the noise even though it is not as quiet as something like a luxury sedan. Maybe they improved that too.

The display and backup camera are very adequate and not a problem even if they might be better on some other vehicles.

At night the headlights are good and bright and better than the Tacoma but not as good as my late model Subaru which has more advanced LED headlights.

My wife is a somewhat stereotypical retired lady who is not too technologically savvy. I did the configuration of the things like the displays
but once it was set up she is fine with the Maverick and not overwhelmed by the controls and the technology. That was a concern for us.

I really like the CoPilot 360 blind spot monitoring and for the price I would highly recommend it.

It holds 20 bags of mulch just fine.

Negatives;

When we got it the tires were over inflated since they are intentionally set high for shipping but the dealer did not adjust that prior to delivery like they should have. This seems to be a common problem so be sure to check your tire pressure when you pick up your Maverick.

I bought the XLT Luxury package mainly to get the more adjustable power seats. Was disappointed to figure out that you cannot adjust the angle of the seat bottom. This makes it hard for my short wife to adjust it to fit her well. At that price point the angle of the seat should really be adjustable.

My wife is only about 5' 1" tall and she was having a hard time getting the gas pedal to feel comfortable. The problem was that with her small feet she could not rest the heel of her foot be on the car floor and have the ball of her foot be on the gas pedal. There are threads about this and in one of them someone said that getting a gas pedal cover from Amazon helped since it was a bit longer so I got one and it helped but I still needed to put an additional 1/2" foam pad under the plastic floor mat to make it comfortable for her. I used a firm foam pad like you would put on the floor by a workbench that I got at Harbour Freight.

Congratulations - I think the Mav will grow on you/her. Radio = my 2022 Lariat 2.0 EB has the base radio. I reset the equalizer, treble, mid-range and bass to the neutral, mid settings. That improved the sound quality. My music is on a USB stick and I can tell a difference in sound quality and separation depending on whether it is an oldie that was originally analog or more recent music that was digitally recorded. Seat = I think the ability to incline the seat bottom is a feature of 10-way power seats. My wife's Lexus has that and I use it. Get her a wedge cushion to sit on that is higher at the rear with a gentle slope forward. Quiet = The Lariat is a bit different from the XLT, having the acoustic glass windshield, Michellin tires and I added a beauty cover cushion to the engine. I believe my Mav is almost as quiet as her Lexus on the freeway. Suggestion: Add the tailgate damper [about $40 and easy to install] so she can open the tailgate with one hand without the full weight hurting her wrist and so the tailgate doesn't drop down. Remind her that unlike her Tacoma, the tailgate locks with the central locking system so she will need to unlock before lowering.
