I’ve only used the drive mode button 8-10 times intentionally in the last 4 years, and find it more annoying to have to cycle through with one button. At least with two you don’t have to cycle through modes you’d never use.

On my 2025 - One button changes the modes from start to finish. Second button moves those same modes from finish to start.

I put grip tape on those tiny buttons to change or backtrack without looking down

edit - I change modes to Sport or Lobo every drive. I hear it is fine to change modes while driving - but I only do when truck is stationary. I figure the ECU has enough things to worry about when in motion!

You'll have to take that up with the EPA, not Ford.

they test and rate mileage based upon how the car comes up when turned on. If you could set the stock vehicle to come up in any of five different modes, it would have to have five testings and ratings.

There is a 2 sec. pop-up on your instrument screen that asks if you want to return to your previous used mode, but you have to be quick. It goes away in about 2 seconds. You have to hit OK before it disappears.

You also have to keep your back seatbelts buckled, otherwise it pops up the seatbelt dialog over the mode dialog--even though it knows that they're empty!

That you have to switch to eco seems to imply that the mileage would be worse under eco than the base mode in the particular case of the epa test.

My '25 XL EB has 2 buttons on the steering wheel to change drive modes.
The R button moves driving mode 2 choices, and back to Normal driving
The L button moves thru 2 more choices and back.
I'd like to see 1 button to cycle through all modes, and a system that remembers your last mode and stays there on next startup, until driver changes it.
I don't get the current setup.

I agree about the 2 buttons!! IIRC Sport Mode can only be selected with the right button!!

it's not the warning you get when you do have an unbelted passenger, just an annoying dialog box you have to OK away--and it clearly shows that the seat is empty, too!

Wasn’t there a rear seat occupant alert we could toggle off ?
I don’t think I get rear seat belt indicators ever.
