Greetings Maverick enthusiasts!
First visit to the club site. After ordering a ‘23 through emails with my neighbor, the local Ford dealer, while touring in New Zealand - that Maverick was never built. This summer the ‘24 window for ordering came while at car show in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. (Weird circumstance, we don’t travel very often.)
On the ‘23 order, I never received any number or confirmation from FoMoCo. Dealer explained that it was an ‘inventory’ order. This time I have an order # from Ford with my name on it. There is also a VIN#, 3FTTW8H35RRA05829. The estimated date for the build was October 23. That was delayed to November 13, and now again delayed to November 23. It will be an XLT Hybrid in dark blue with safety package, trailer hitch, spray in bed liner, soft toneau cover and a couple of other items. - Bummed at not having a fog light option, but the dealer is looking into available kits and will do an installation on delivery.
Not thinking if the Maverick as a ‘haulin’ truck,’ but more of a four door car with no trunk lid (except for the toneau) that gets good fuel mileage. Don’t anticipate mileage to equal that of my trade vehicle, a 2014 Mazda 3 which we purchased new from a Ford - Mazda dealer in Indiana before moving to SE Washington in 2025. That car still gets 40 mpg, but we’ve had transmission noise for more than a year. Time to trade!
Going with a Ford in part because the Ford dealership is the only garage in our small town and it is about sixty miles one way to the nearest town with garages or dealerships. Weary of traveling round trips of 120 miles for service on our Mazda or our Subaru.
I’m also an enthusiast for MG sports cars. Have had five MGB cars (owning them one-at-a-time since 1991. I used to trailer my MGB with a 4.0 V6 Ranger, but sold that pickup, the trailer and the MG prior to a move from Indiana to SE Washington. (No plans for trailering with the Maverick. Don’t believe it would be fit for that duty.) Have since purchased MGs since the move. I’ve also, briefly, owned antique Ford pickups, a 1951 Ford F1 while back in Indiana. That truck was a rusted out non-runner obtained as a retirement resto project. - I quickly realized I was way over my head in terms of skills, knowledge, time, and budget. (Did fire it and run it on the day it was sold before the move.) The connection to a ‘51 was because I learned to drive in my dad’s ‘51 in our pasture lots on a small Indiana farm when I was nine years old.
On arriving in Washington, I purchased a ‘56 F-100 which I thoroughly enjoyed for several years until selling last summer.
