After seeing the posts about all the different locations folks are putting their entry keypads, I decided to just see what the dealer did with mine today. I wasn’t too crazy about putting it above the door handle, which seemed to be where the dealers were installing them, but in the overall scheme of life, what did it really matter?? I only wanted it to function!!!

I had to grin when I walked out to where my truck was parked when installation was finished and saw that it was below the door handle. That is where I had kinda thought I wanted it, but I kept picturing it in my mind as centered under the handle, so I wasn’t dead set on it.

I think the location the service tech chose is perfect!!!
Does such a keypad increase the chances of theft? I'm having second thoughts about having it installed on my new Maverick. Wouldn't a would-be thief see the lock and think, "The keys/fob is inside"... ?

My plan was to have it for when I'm out camping or hiking and don't want to have my key fob with me and risk losing it. Thanks for the feedback.

I suppose that is a possibility, but the Maverick is my fourth vehicle, beginning in 2000, with a keypad, and none of them have been stolen, or broken into, for that matter. I used my 2005 Sport Trac to haul my kayak for several years, starting in 2017, and always left my keys in it, because I didn’t want them to end up at the bottom of a lake or river if I flipped the kayak. I was always glad to see it where I left it when I got back, but never had a problem.
