So this means the wheel well hump in the bed is a completely unnecessary waste of space? Am I crazy or is that what I'm looking at here?

Well you can see that the shock is mounted in that area, but yes is a giant rectangle lump for no real reason when it could be much smaller

What's odd is front and back are different sizes.
