Vehicle: 2024 XL hybrid and Iphone 15.

Carplay does not want to work. It prompts me as though it will but never comes on. When I trick it to see the carplay settings I can see the button to turn on/off and asks me to remove "no name" from carplay...

I did 99% of the things I've read and had the dealer help but still nothing. Reset phones, updated software, hard reset the radio, switch cables OEM, and different phones. We even discounted the battery to allow a deep sleep hoping it resets somehow... Nothing.

BUT, the interesting thing is my co-worker plugged his Android into the USB-C and it worked instantly!! So it seems to be an apple software issue?

Has this happened to anyone? And was it able to be fixed without a trip to the dealer?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there, R! I can look into your Maverick's CarPlay concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Maverick's VIN?

2024 XLT base audio. I have noticed CarPlay can be finicky. I have noticed: 1) Bluetooth on the phone must be ON. 2) Phone and truck radio must be paired on Bluetooth. 3) Phone and truck radio must be linked via Bluetooth after the truck is on ACC or turned on. 4) After I plug in my phone by USB cable my phone wants to see my face to unlock it enough to authorize the start of CarPlay. Then it seems to work for me. Rocks and trees and mountains and poor reception don’t help with CarPlay apps. ( I drive in NH and VT). Good luck.

Clean the usb port on your phone and try again. Especially if they used the same cable you tried.

Remove the Bluetooth connection from the phone and from the truck. Reboot the infotainment system and the phone. Make sure your phone is unlocked when connecting the USB-C cable.

I have a Google Pixel phone & Android OS. The only problem I've had was, the very first day I had the truck and tried to connect my phone to the truck it did not work and the infotainment system crashed. I removed the connections from both truck and phone then rebooted everything and set up the phone again. Haven't had any problems with connectivity since then.

I had a situation where it seemed like CarPlay would only start up half the times. I tried many things but in my situation it turned out that CarPlay will not work if I am using a VPN. Turned off the VPN and it works fine now.

I had all kinds of CarPlay issues at first. A new cable fixed them. The only issue now is the flaky speed number on the display…which I haven’t heard anyone come up with a fix for.

I like their early CDs. Not so much the later stuff.

Oh - sorry. Thought you said Coldplay.

By chance do you have a battery bank case on the phone? I do and also an iphone (sadly) and carplay decides IF and WHEN and HOW LONG it'll work... take the battery bank case off and carplay works 100% no issues.

In my ‘24 XL Hybrid I use a known good data cable, not a cheap charging cable. Using USB-A to lightning connection. Bluetooth on. Mine also requires that Siri is activated. iPhone 8.

Thank you all for the suggestions, but I’ve tried it. I’ve tried multiple cables, multiple phones, disconnected and reconnected phone. Master reset, removed the battery: nothing but the android works perfectly with my OEM Apple USB-C. It’s very odd.

you will notice in the last image it says “no name” as the name of my connected device… ??

Yes, I agree with Ktowntimmy, Siri must be turned on, or CarPlay does not work.
I don't know about iPhone 8s, but that isn't true with newer phones. I have nothing related to Siri turned on in my iPhone 13, and CarPlay works just fine. I still get texts read to me in the Maverick, but that's about it.

I use Siri 52x per day. I assure you it’s on.

Siri doesn't need to be active on a 15; you can rule that out.

The "NO NAME" points to an issue for sure.

Have you removed all the phones previously paired via bluetooth from the truck and started fresh? (Assuming maybe that happened when you reset the radio?)

You could also turn bluetooth off on the phone and try to see if that un-confuses the head unit. Plug it in the USB and see if CarPlay will work when that is the only connection.

Other than that, it's got to be a phone setting. Maybe buried in privacy or location services. Did that phone work in another vehicle before?
