They said they couldn't order it from Lakeland Ford in florida, they could if it was closer but thats "too far". I asked if I order it, could they install it with the labor under warranty and he said no because that "doesn't follow specific procedures"

Guess I am buying it out of pocket and taking it to another shop. I could do it myself but the place I am at now doesn't allow car maintenance to be done on premises
I forgot to add one very important detail. I opened a case with Ford after waiting a couple months... after which the dealer was much more willing to help :)

Running back into the issue with waiting. New information though, I called Lakeland ford to see how soon they could ship it. On the website it shows available but the person said that it is on a nationwide back order and they would have just cancelled my order if I placed one :cautious:. I asked why it shows available on the site and he said they will show a part even if they don't have it but the blue banner on the top says some parts need special ordered.

Yes it has a warranty. That’s why I went to the dealership. The problem is that the warranties part is a month and a half out
Call ford explain the situation. Get a control # from ford let ford know which dealer is fixing the veh. See if they can get the part sent to your dealer if not can you pay for it with reimbursement?. Have your dealer contact there local ford rep with control # to keep everyone in the loop and good luck 🍀

That should help with coordinating between dealers. Is the control # the same as the R/O # on my paperwork from the dealer? Also do you have a recommended number at ford to call? I'll google it if you don't

Hello everyone,

I just got back from a dealership to get my truck inspected for a vibration while accelerating to highways speeds. I already assumed cv axle before I took it in because it only vibrated while accelerating. The problem comes from them saying its back ordered and can't get one till about January.

They said it is safe to drive on but I drive a lot and don't think it would be safe to drive on for that long. I am currently in Oklahoma for work but leaving on the 19th for Florida then headed to Louisiana after the new year. If it is that back ordered and potentially going to take a month and half to arrive, should I call a dealership is Louisiana near where I'll be and see if they can order it ahead of time? Or, does anyone know if I can source one myself then take it in to get fixed?
Hey there! If you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can look into your concerns on my end.

That's nice, maybe I don't need to call. I sent the information Ford rep requested, I will update if I get more information or direction

I'd contact ford directly and explain your situation and the way you discovered to solve it and how your dealer isn't working with you on this problem......maybe you can get it resolved that way, good luck

I haven’t found a way to resolve it. I called Lakeland ford to get shipping timeline and they said they didn’t have one and if I ordered in the site, they would cancel. Idk why the site would let me order if they would cancel. Seems like an easy way to upset people

There are a ton of companies that make upgraded heavy duty half shafts for many automotive applications. If one of them were to start making some for the Maverick it seems like they'd have plenty of orders on their hands. Clearly the Ford parts are sub par. My theory is that the failure rate on hybrids is so much higher due to the instantaneous peak torque the electric motors put out.

I have seen a few threads of people saying they failed. There is a guy on youtube who uploaded his whole experience with it going bad with like 3 videos. It seems like it would be a more common problem if they can't get enough made to meet the demand for people needing replacements without a backorder.

As far as my digging, I can't even find a third party manufacturer who make one to the same specs let alone one that would make a beefed up version. I think we are still probably a year or more away from 3rd party parts specific for the Maverick. I also doubt the hybrid escape or bronco sport CV axles would fit

Welcome to the “Bad Axle” Maverick club! I have been dealing with mine since August of this year, working with my local dealership, the Ford Agent that follows this thread, and the social media rep for Ford. Still no axles or estimated delivery date. Continues to baffle me that there has been no accountability on Ford motor company’s part by issuing a recall.

Thank you for the invite! I don't care about a recall as long as they can fix it and honor the warranty. But if they can't even fix the ones that have gone wrong so far, I don't expect them to have enough parts to recall and replace a significant large portion of the trucks. I suppose we could get people to complain to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration. They can force recalls I think. But that is only if they are a safety concern. So far, I have been told it is safe to drive on and haven't seen any report of it failing while on the road and causing an accident

Ford Rep on here made me a case number and said she would escalate it to the truck team who will contact me and a dealership near where I will be in Louisiana. I was not given any sort of timeline
