Hello everyone, I decided a while back I was going to see a concert in Houston/Baytown area the Artist was Wyatt Flores(definitely check out his music). This was the first long trip for my maverick with that being said so far these are the mods I have:
•2in Rough Country Strut Lift Front and Back
•255/65r17 Falken wildpeak at3w
•AFe Cold air intake
The maverick performed very well for me needless to say the total round trip was 821 miles and the Avg on the truck sat at 24 mpg for the majority of the trip with the wind not being all to favorable on the way to Houston. I hit some rain on the way back after driving to San Antonio but nothing to bad. Speeds ranged on the highway from 65-85+(I have a heavy foot when the road is open)
While I know alot of people on here will say that the mpg I got was terrible. But im happy with it. Also getting my second best tank to E at 395. Ended the trip just a lil shy of 24 mpg on my trip.

Roadtrip between SATX and Houston, did you get to stop at the Buc-ees? Almost always stop there to stockup on BBQ sandwiches and/or kolache’s if breakfast times before I-10 gets long and boring.
Way home from Houston, I stop in Schulenburg for dinner at a wonderful Steakhouse and stockup on pastries. That way avoiding the blinding Sun before sunset.

Yeah didn’t know it closed. Bummer classic old restaurant with half a sheet pan of those good pastries to go to eat the next day.

Every trip I go on up north my family always stops at buccees. This was no different we stopped at 3 different buccees first one was for food (that XXL brisket sandwiche is goood) and my girlfriend got a shirt and she got another shirt at the second one and I got beaver nuggets, and the last one was for breakfast and gas on the way back. The start of the trip was Harlingen TX, we drove from here to Houston, then SA, and them back to Harlingen.

It's a great intake so far can definitely tell there was a power gain. Install wasn't too bad but there are a few quick release connectors that you have to have the tool for in order to take them off. I didnt have to tool but the guy that helped me put it on (Chase Gentry aka Adventure Overland) did have a universal one that we ended up cutting it up so it could fit into the tight space. That was the only complication but after that it was a pretty easy install.

Has anyone driven Harlingen to Houston to San Antonio and back to Harlingen in a Maverick hybrid? Or have you driven any of these segments? What mpg’s did you get overall? How much on each segment? How fast did you drive?

Speculation: You might travel a lot at 75 mph on cruise. Harlingen to Houston is flat and probably roads are not crowded. Maybe you might get 36 mpg’s?
San Antonio rises about 600 ft in elevation from Houston and roads are probably more congested. 40 mpg’s? Harlingen falls about 600 ft in elevation from San Antonio. Because it’s a “downhill” ride and again probably less heavily traveled, you might get 42 mpg’s. How much am I off, I wonder?

I have never driven this part of Texas, but it’s fun to think about how the Mav hybrid would do in terms of mpg’s.

that lift, those tires at the speed: probably not a truck on the planet that could acheive any better.
thanks for sharing...

I'll have a milder 1" front, 3/4" rear leveling lift
245/65r17 or 245/60r18 A/S tires (so much highway driving between the USA and Mexico.. I could do without the road noise and fuel consumption)
but I'll also have the 4KTow differential ratio.
I keep my speeds between 65-75 in AZ USA and 65-70 in Son MX
looking forward to recording results in the fall/winter...

I have an Ecoboost FWD XLT and milage seems to get better the longer I have it. Currently I am at about 18,000 and in town I seem to average about 24 mpg. I took a trip from Austin area to Missouri a few weeks ago and got a steady 31 mpg on the way up and averaged 27 mpg on the way back. I have noticed this before and think it is curious. Even just going to Dallas from Austin area, taking same roads and driving same speeds... I get better milage going to Dallas than I get coming back.
