He states that originally MY22 production was ending Oct 21st and MY23 production was starting on Oct 24th but those dates were pushed back because MY22 scheduling was continuing into September for build dates in November.

Doing this additional MY22 scheduling means that an additional six weeks of MY22 production happens.

The pushback of MY23 order banks opening is also pushed back the same six weeks.

For those who have build dates at the end of November it is a real possibility unless the Train and Convoy shipping issues are resolved by then.

When things were working fine at the end of 2021 shipping only took a couple of weeks to get from the factory to Dallas. For me shipped 11/30/21 from the factory and delivered 12/13/21 to my dealer.

Shipping to other parts of the country may take an additional couple of weeks.

So if (and that is a big if) the Train and Convoy shipping issues are resolved deliveries for MY22 should be in 2022.

Has happened before. Lots of 2021 EcoSports were delivered to dealers in early 2022. Many other times cars have been built right up through December, and then get delivered the following year.

It happens.

So, you take delivery, or do the only other option, which is to refuse delivery and do something else. Maybe not the best situation, but is the reality sometimes.

And in the case of a Maverick, the buyer is not really in a good position to dictate terms. The dealer is hoping you don’t take it.

I don’t give a lot of hope to what Jim Farley is talking about with dealer markups. There are lots of ways to package a deal to get around them. Until dealers go away, it’s the reality. With all the state laws, that’s not happening anytime soon. Even Tesla can only sell in 28 states, and with very few outlets. In Ohio, there are only four Tesla “galleries”. Four! For a state with 11 1/2 million people!
