My Maverick Journey and Journal - Update:4/4/24

I'm really hoping to be able to start working on my truck in the coming weeks/months (maybe years) so I am starting this thread to document. I've taken so many pics over the last week of owning it, that it feels like I had a 3rd child. LOL

So anyway, here's my yet-to-be-named 2023 Iconic Silver Maverick XL:

My immediate plans are adding more tie downs, tonneau cover, storage cubby, tailgate letters and some decor for the side view mirrors if I like it enough. I think I am leaning for mostly matte black add ons - but I do have some carbon fiber trim ideas in mind. One of my biggest worries about the XL when I had seen them was the blue interior along with the blacks and the exterior all meshing well. I didn't like it enough on almost every color I'd seen, but I think the Silver makes the interior work in a way no other color did (I didn't see Carbonized Gray but I assume it would look equally as good). The Exterior just seems to keep the interior looking dark and sleek. I love it:

Tomorrow I am heading over to a friends to double check the Tonneau I installed yesterday and to:

- Add bed cubby
- Thread bed holes to add more tie downs and net
- Add Tailgate letters
- probably add side mirror accents and visors to mirrors
- Tailgate assist

My next wants/steps are trying to locate:

- FX4 Wheels
- FX4/Lariat instrument cluster under my mileage
- Get Forscan up and going to add Speed Limits and, if/when I find a cluster, a few other things

I believe the bump in the tonneau has settled a little. it looks like the weather stripping attached all comes together in this area like a T and it makes it bumpy. im hoping it calms down a little over the coming months. lol

had to do the tailgate assist.

I ended up removing the mirror items I added because they werent sitting right and looked like they fit weird. I might retry in the warmer months.

and of course, letters!

My next focus is going to be wheels. I really thinkg I want the FX4 wheels, but I have found some others I am starting to like.

Tyger tonneau,, t's good and fairly cheap off Amazon but I need to seal some when the rain stops because I have some wetness going into the bed. The assist is from Orion Motor Tech. Also got off Amazon, I liked the way it looked.

Today I DID IT! I was terrified, it was my first time using Forscan but I succeeded!! I think I have my original code set saved to a file but if I messed it up somehow and the files isn't right, does anyone know how to get your default log back? Thanks!

Just as an update, I returned the Tyger Tonneau and bought the Gator SFX soft trifold and its been so much better with travel and water etc. Glad I made the change, though it feels like the top might wear out quicker (though it feels and looks awesome). Also Added black vinyl emblem overlay, hitch cover and license plate frame. Small but love the way it all looks. will be adding an emblem cover (for a chrome delete) when I can decide between the matte black or carbon fiber. Maybe I will set a poll up?!

I have almost 1000 miles on my truck since 11/14. Thats more miles than I usually put on my vehicles in 4-6 months. I just love driving it so much, though I am beginning to slow down a little. I tried these on today. radio, vents, center vents, center console. Realizes the carbons didnt match so I am exchanging 2 parts. i didnt even have to stick them down, the silver knobs kept everything in place while i looked and the other vents stayed nice. I am not sure if I am actually liking the Carbon though. Whatever everyones thoughts? I might just get a Matte black radio dial cover and call it a day.

I made a change to the matte carbon fiber look. Loos really good imo with the grey/black interior.
I might change the radio plate back to the matte black one I origially installed. Im not sure how I feel about it yet. I also installed the matte black emblem covers and some carbon fiber in the slat in the grille. Next is finding buying some black wheels and selling the steelies but that might not be until spring or summer.

It's been a while and its a quick update, but I finally got my wheels installed! 17x8 RRW RR5-S . Still using stock tires for now, but will def upgrade one day. These wheels need a beefier fit!
