I rarely get scared, but that might’a done it!!! Glad you’re ok too.

We had something similar near a place I used to live. The tornado blew everrrrrrrthing away, houses, cars, everything!! Well almost everything. There was a traveling circus set up in the area. Gone were the train cars, the tents, elephants, all the rides, etc…… But ONE lone thing was left standing. You know the game that you try to knock down three small metal milk bottles with a ball? ONE metal bottle was right there in the place where it was originally set up!!

Tornados are the ultimate "all bets are off" weather. It's just how completely unpredictable they are. There's no reasoning with one, and very little by way of pattern to go by. I'm glad you and your Maverick came through it okay. =Whew!=

The other day I was on my way to pick up dinner. Noticed a crazy think in the sky that now I know was the roof of a building but normalcy bias me just thought it was odd so I went to take a video.

This is what happened next. Truck was kind of lifted up and teetered back and fourth at one point but it stayed planted mostly. I tried to out run the thing but the neighborhood I turned into had trees blocking every exit. I drove every possible way back and forth until it ended up passing. Then drove through some front yards to get back to the main road. Truck is probably not totaled. Front bumper will need replaced for sure. Some hail dents on hood and roof and a whole bunch of tiny knicks and scratches.
Truck died once while trying to back up down a blocked street but it started right back. Unsure of what would have caused that. It’s been ok to drive since.

I'm sure, like here in NY, a tornado is not a common sight. It's great that you were able to make it out of it's path. Self preservation, if nothing else, is a funny thing, it got you to react as needed to escape harm. A vehicle can always be repaired/replaced, but not us.

What a video, F2 hit my ranch the same hit and took out the county Tax office 20 miles before and continued til it reached F3 about 15 miles past. Saw it on Radar and got behind it about 5 mins on way to cut across neighborhood. Blew doors of RV, pulled down many trees and a post oak just disappeared torn out roots and all. Took off a few metal roof sheets, lifted and turned an entire shed next door.
