Howdy,

I'm hoping to use my Maverick to haul around a new motorcycle next year. What I'm looking at getting is probably going to be around 500 lbs and longer than the trucks bed. I've heard that a motorcycle hitch carrier would be a good solution, but I'm concerned about putting that much weight on the tongue. Can anybody who currently uses a small truck or car this way weigh in?

From other threads it looks like mavrick has a class 3 hitch, but how much tongue weight it officially supports seems unclear. I'm on a hybrid with the 4pt receiver option.

Thanks!
Trust me when I say majority of motorcycles will fit in Maverick with tailgate down. I have four motorcycles from a Harley softail to Husqvarna enduro to Vstrom 1000 Adventure, I measured all before ordering the maverick to make sure they will fit. Then get the moto-gate Tailgate net you will be set.

I’ve heard nothing but great things about Joe Hauler. I plan to pick one up eventually.

I don't know if you have loaded or unloaded a full size bike onto a pickup but it isn't easy unless you have experience and are willing to take some risks especially if you want to use a narrow ramp. Pushing the bike off the truck and down that ramp is something to think about. A friend just used a "Trailer in a bag" that breaks down and stores in a duffel bag but that company is gone. Might be able to find something like it or a used one. Trailers are much closer to the ground which is more comfortable to me.
