Maverick Thoughts?

Personally, if you are on the fence, wait. I have purchased all my vehicles over the years because I use them for the work I do and I can write off the mileage, the down payment and the monthly payments. But I got the Maverick also becuase it is a hybrid Truck. Last week, 46 mpg city driving.

IMO they were neat trucks when they were priced aggressively but are now in a weird spot in the market. Now that Ford has raised the prices and taken away features on the 24+, I don't think they are worth $30K+ anymore.

They lack a lot of features you'd get in other vehicles around the same price or cheaper. You're just paying the truck tax to have a small bed and really sacrificing ride quality and those more advanced creature comforts and build quality. ( no keyless entry, no xm radio, no rear slider, no numerical entry pad's, no radar cruise, no dimming mirrors etc) .

I ordered a 24 and didn't pick it up after I sent some more time in one and really thought about what I was paying for.

Again, super neat little trucks if you need that. I just personally don't think they're worth what Ford is asking anymore.

Yeah, you have to step up into the Lariat trim to get those and then you're really hovering right around $38K (ecoboost). That's a lot of money for a Mav.

If the XLT came with some of those features it wouldn't be such a bad deal. I guess all I'm trying to get across to the OP is that unless you need that little truck bed in the Mav, you can get better equipped and built vehicles for much less. Ford is cashing in on the "truck" tax.

I like mine so much Im having a hard time keeping the miles low on it, lol. I didnt want to rack up the miles too fast!

I went from a 14 mazda 3 to a 22 maverick. I had wanted a compact crew cab AWD pickup for years and the mav is literally the only one being made.

First thing I noticed was the handling was almost as good, which is amazing for a truck vs sedan, and the mazda handled really well. Hybrid mileage will be much better than my 4k ecoboost. Rear seat space is reasonable.

The comments about build quality are correct. My mazda was much more polished overall. The mav isn't really bad per se, but if you look you will notice little things about fit and finish.

The biggest concern I have is reliability. I bought the mazda knowing I would need it for the 8 years my kids were in high school and college. It ran flawlessly for that time and was still in excellent mechanical shape when I traded it in. When I got my mazda, it was the first model year of a complete redesign and there were no recalls and no problems

Unfortunately I do not have the same confidence in the maverick. . My mav is on it's second recall and has had some other issues. It still might turn out to be a generally reliable vehicle overall.

Maverick Hybrids have some of the best resale value on the market. I sold my first one for $600 over sticker last year (paid sticker new). Which is crazy good after 28,000 miles. I bought my 25 XL with the best options (AWD, 4K TOW, CP360 and SIBL) for under $30k, which was $2,450 off sticker. You are way better to buy new, over used. Used costs more than new. The new trucks are upgraded for 2025 too. Next big upgrades/changes are for 2028.

So what’s everyone’s thoughts so far with the Maverick? Still have my Mazda3, but once again considering a Maverick.

Drive about an hour to work and a hour back about once or twice a month, so looking at a hybrid.

Have 2 younger kids in car seats and it seems the room in the back will be similar to my Mazda3, so shouldn’t be much of a change there.

Looking to get a truck and really liking the mpg on the hybrid.

My Mazda3 has been great so far. Almost 9 years old with around 91k miles and only needed regular maintenance so far. Making it hard to buy a new vehicle.

Maverick front seat space is notably larger than my previous Honda CRV. Back seats maybe a bit bigger? I rented a Mazda 3 very firm track focused seats, seemed a bit smaller but throttle was very nicely responsive

Yes used Maverick prices are ridiculous!! Mav was my 1st new car buy over a 3 year old Mav because used made no sense save $1000 with 40,000 miles hell no
