I’ve been thinking through adding toolboxes to my truck that will allow me to store my handyman tools but will also allow me the ability to haul sheets of 4’x8’ material, and/or allow me to use the truck bed to haul materials. The only logical solution I could come up with was over the bed toolboxes. I was unable to find anything marketed specifically for the Maverick. So after much searching and thinking I found underbody truck boxes that were the smaller 14”x12” size. They had one in 30 inch width and one in 24” widths allowing me to get just about the perfect size for the Mavericks bed. I used 2 1/2 angle iron to weld a frame to mount the boxes to so I can remove the rack in the future if I want to. The paint on the boxes was in bad shape when they arrived so I ended up spraying them with spray can truck bed liner that matches really well with the black trim already on the truck. Here are the results. I’m pleased with the way it turned out. I’m planning to add a removable cover that will allow the bed to be covered, but will also allow me to remove it on the fly to haul material then quickly reinstall it. That is a future project. This project took way more time then I would have liked but it came out the way I wanted. There are a number of steps I went through that aren’t included here. If you are looking to do this yourself and want more info I’m happy to give all the details in what I did.
