Maverick Kayak Racks - Share your thoughts

I used a Harbor Freight bed extender ($60.00) and some rachets straps and bungee cords to haul two 10-foot kayaks securely. I put rugs under and between the boats to reduce chaffing. Very easy to use and I don't have to lift a kayak over my head or climb up into the bed to secure the boats.

I just used the Elevate rack with Yakima Jayhooks setup for the first time a couple of weeks ago.
Impressions:
Easy to set up. I had to get Yakima's universal mounts to fit the elevator bars. But once those are on, attaching them to the rack is pretty easy.
Moderately easy to load. Our boats weigh about 40 lbs. I'm 6'0" and can lift the boats in place by myself, but I have to take it slow or the awkward weight can torque a shoulder muscle.
A little affect to the drive. For the most part, I forgot the boats were up there. However, they did become sails from the turbulence while driving behind a semi. I had to gently fight the wheel a few times. I image that could be bad in a crosswind.
Overall impression. I love having the flexibility to pack the bed with camping gear and load bikes on the hitch while carrying kayaks. The Elevate bars plus bed rail system is a smart design that costs a lot less than the Yakima set up.

Ordered June 13th, still waiting for them. The kayaks are begging to be used.
