Maverick Chips Going to F150’s?

It would make sense for them to go to the F-150, and more profitable vehicles (as mentioned by others)

the maverick is sort-of like a gateway drug car. Thinner margin, but hopes that you come back later and get the more profitable vehicle.

they don’t need to sell the gateway right now if they can’t get the upmarket sell going.

Flipside-

they Also don’t want to piss off the first time buyers. They may gravitate away before their first hit.

Even though the F150 is more profitable, there are A LOT more Mavericks ordered. As a company, I would really consider giving priority to the Mavericks. Just because a vehicle is more expensive doesn't really mean anything. Maybe 500 people ordered an F150, but if 5000 Mavericks are ordered, you make much more money selling the Mavericks. People are so desperate for the Maverick that they would do what it takes to get it. The F150....not so much as there is tons of them for sale brand new. Just for a basic business standpoint.

FYI ford sells around 1M f150 a year. Maverick will be 10% at best

There should be no reason for a chip shortage at this time. Plants have excess capacity now and the COVID days have been over for a long time. If a company like Ford cannot get enough chips it is because they are trying to source them from the cheapest supplier they can find who cannot handle the size of the order in a timely manner. Ford simply doesn't want to spend the extra money to have them sourced from a larger manufacturer. Chip shortage is an excuse ....it means we want the lowest price possible for this chip even if it means waiting an extra month or two. If you notice there are a LOT of trucks on the dealer lots now so either you wait for your special order one from Ford when they get the chips or you buy one that is already on the lot. Ford wins in either case and saves money on chips. Most people will wait for what they want rather than going through the hassle of jumping ship.

I did not buy a ranger for over 30 years due to it's bad mpg.
