To each his own! I enjoy getting the most performance out of my trucks that I can. These Cali freeways , you have to have some passing power. Lol. Enjoy your truck, and build as you like!

I have to admit that a stock Maverick (eco boost) sounds like a sewing machine that's on its last legs.
An exhaust with a deeper sound would be nice, but I can't justify replacing a new exhaust system.

In 2000 I bought a new Ford Ranger with the 4.0 litre V6. I didn't like the sound of that exhaust either and decided that I would replace the system with a Magnaflow catback when the exhaust wore out.
I owned that truck for 13 years and that damn exhaust system was still in great shape when I sold the truck. :confused:

exhaust will be one of the lowest adders(in terms of performance). I think people think they are adding performance as the sound changes when they hit the gas.

if you really want to add some performance, start with something like a JB4, or upgraded turbochargers. Those would be the best bang for the buck.

Generally speaking, a 4-cylinder's(with the exception of a boxer engine) don't sound all that great.

I agree that it does sound like a machine on its last legs.

Exhaust system only really starts to help once you hit the limiters of outbound airflow. First step is to get more air in... then once you hit a wall where your EGT is out of bounds... you start to look at upgrading things like the exhaust system.

I see it as , by adding a after market performance muffler in a free flowing exhaust is going to A. Increase the horsepower and/or B. Increase the fuel economy. I’ll take both and or 1 of the 2. I think most people would.

Soo, I was installing the new kit and ran into some problems. Fitment was slightly incorrect. Could not get the hangers to match up. It seems the kit was designed on the AWD Mav.

I reached out to the Magnaflow tech guys and we were trying to resolve the issue of the mis fitment of the kit. Realized the diff between the AWD and FWD, was in the hangar spacing between the two diff trucks.

I started on Wed at 12 pm and by 7:30am on Thursday they were all over it and asked if I can drive it in or they can send a truck to pick it up. I live 45 miles away from their headquarters . Got there by 9:30 and was gone by 11:30

Their R/D team did some adjust and re fitment tooling to fix their KITS, and used the my FWD truck to ensure proper fitment. Happy to say it came out BITCHEN, sounds BITCHEN, looks
BITCHEN. Talk about CUSTOMER SERVICE they were all over it and made it RIGHT. They hooked me up pretty generously as well. Top Notch Co.
