Hey all. My wife has recently developed mobility issues and unfortunately the long-term prognosis of it improving isn't very good.

Right now she can, with my help, climb into the seat of our Mav, but I noticed today it's just a skosh high for her. I have it manually lowered all the way, but would be nice if it was maybe an inch or two lower.

Has anyone found a reversable way to lower the passenger seat of a mav a bit? I guess I could do a foamectomy or do something with the mounts, but rather not re-invent the wheel if someone has gone down that road before.

Thanks

Would step bars / running boards help? Combine that with a lowering kit and you'll probably have a VERY accessible vehicle. I believe there are disability modifications that allow the doors to open wider as well.

That'd likely be a more easily accomplished task that a mechanic or any truck oriented aftermarket shop would handle for you if you aren't the wrenching type. I'd be VERY cautious about modifying the seat mounting hardware, and reducing cushioning probably isn't going to be comfortable.

My other half has to have the seat moved right to the back and then have a 6" foot block on the firewall area to put her feet on. Since the Mav is lower than every other truck, she sits on the seat first, and then rotates in. That way she can raise her feet into the vehicle without getting them stuck with the door being too close for her.

Going to try a pair of these. Looks like a good price too at $159. When I eye-balled the truck, the exterior under the door seems to be higher than under the body. There's the cover under the truck that is maybe 2" lower than the side? Anyway hoping these will add that extra step but not ruin the ground clearance. I can always take them off if they don't work.

Let me know how the install goes and if it was helpful. I have a parent who is permanently disabled and may need help getting into my Mav as well.

Just make sure you check that it will mount on a hybrid. The mounting is different on the passenger side due to the battery.
