Look what I just cracked open. Getting ready for camping!

I've been a lifelong camper, but getting older and no desire to be on the ground. Got the Napier tent for the bed, not a perfect fit, but definitely will work. Getting a Maverick has opened up a bunch of possibilities to making life easier. Going to build a sleeping platform to get a few more inches of width and a bit of space underneath. I have a few ideas of what I want to do, but if people have suggestions, would be interested to hear them. Today was a perfect day to do a dry run, as it finally feels like spring and the sun is shining. Now to pack it up.

If you're going to build a sleeping platform, I'd make a hinged extension that you can flip out the back with adjustable support legs. That way you can have a longer floor and be able to fit a full length mattress

And build a pullout drawer that fits underneath for all your stuff

My solution was to get a KampRite tent cot and built an inexpensive platform that sat on the inside fender rails. It was the perfect height for easy in and out. Works great! I use a tote to store the sleeping pad, sleeping bag and pillow.

I like that! I used a piece of plywood, a trifold mattress and one man tent for a similar thing. I usually camp at the 'put-in' to meet people for a canoe trip.
I've seen those rooftop tents and they seem a little odd.

yes, here are some. I don’t. Have any of the platform, it’s just two 2x4s cut to sit on the side fender rails with a piece of plywood on it to set the cot on. I initially used clamps on the cot but found with it strapped down that the clamps were not needed.

How do you like the tailgate ladder? I spent several hours over the holiday weekend installing the DIBL, and some metal molle side panels. Several hours because the molle panels were not made to fit with the unistrut rails and the DIBL. That was a lot of in and out of the bed, I didn't have trouble getting up but found getting down a pain.
