I finally pulled the trigger and bought 265 70 17 BF Goodrich KO2s and a 2in lift by Flatout Suspension.

yes it’s a hybrid and yes I’m aware it’s counterintuitive. I get around 50 mpg when I drive to work so I’m not worried it exceeds my expectations already.

I need more traction and better approach angle for the area that I’m moving to so we will see what is to come.

Should arrive in a week or too so pictures will be added to this thread.

HYBRID 2IN Update

well she looks good, mpg is at an all time low I just needed to get everything done before the rain and snow returns to the mountains. Definitely gonna buy an extra set of wheels for regular use because the lift didn’t effect the MPG at all but the wheels absolutely lowered it around 20mpg from average. Pulling 30-35mpg which isn’t bad compared traditional truck mpg.

lift kit went on easy but one lose strut bolt will snatch your soul.

2in lift from Flat Out Suspension

Looks good! How long have you had it installed for? Is it a lot noisier with those tires? How has it been in terms of clearance?

truck looks awesome! those 265/70s sure are beefy; did you have to trim at all to clear lock to lock? That is quite a bit larger than the 245/65s most of us run. Looks awesome though.

Kit also looks pretty quality - comes with nearly all the same parts my HRG 1.5" kit did; nice that yours came with extra rear springs though. Did you have any trouble finding a shop to align it?

I think a little over a week now, definitely more road noise. I would recommend a all season tire for less road noise and better mpg.

I’m probably eventually gonna go to a 245 70 17 for commuting.

I believe the KO2s add almost 1.5 in to ride height

I drive in the desert and forest pretty often and need the clearance. As you can imagine I’m waiting on that AWD hybrid to come out lol.

yes (pinch weld for 265) she still rubs on turns, havnt decided weather to trim underskirt or remove.

I installed it with my brother in law and his friend. Then just went to a local shop and had them install the camber bolts and align. 50$ more than regular alignment because of camber bolts.

Nice setup. From all the tires I have owned (Open Country - older and newer, Wildpeaks - Trails and AT3W's, GY's, and many more over the years) the KO2's are some of the loudest A/T's I've ever had topped only by some Goodyear Wranglers that were MT's. They are also some of the taller and heavier ones across pretty much any size, but still only have the same tread depth as something like the AT3W's. I avoided them for a long time for those reasons. That said, I'll definitely be switching back to the Falkens when the life on the KO2's is up. I've noticed the KO2's are also rock grabbers like previous Goodyear Wrangler MT's I've had. Never had that issue on the Wildpeaks in any variant. I've also felt a bit of slippage on the trails too. Overall, you may disagree here, but I think the KO2's are subpar to the Wildpeaks. In terms of looks though (and that's why I finally decided to try them on the Maverick) - I think they look awesome. Not sure if your plan is to run them year round or where you are located, but I'm going to switch to some dedicated snow's in winter here in Montana. I did not feel that was necessary with the Wildpeak AT3W's but I did for the Trails.

245/65R17's only add 1/2" to ride height with just shy of a full inch in diameter compared to the stock 225's. Your diamater in the 245/70R17's increased an inch and a half but overall height you only got half that. What really killed your MPG's was stepping up to the 70R category over the 65R, because you took a massive hit on revolutions per mile. But again, they look awesome and like you said, 30mpg is still better than literally every other truck on the road currently running some beefy AT's/MT's and a lift.

To anyone wondering, if you are going the route of lifting - skip the all season tires and go with an A/T like the Wildpeak Trails / KO2 Trails or even the Toyo Open Country AT3's to find that medium balance and retain a majority of your MPG's. But, if you want to full send on some beefy tires, the AT3W's, KO2's, MT Baja's and a couple others are what you will want. As OP said, you are going to take a pretty significant hit on MPG. Especially on the Hybrid's, and the trucks without the 4K Tow packs. The "Trail" variants of those tires have less rolling resistance and a tread that is more geared towards highway's than it is anywhere else. Where as the normal A/T is like 50/50 (highway being the first and off road being the second number), the trails are like 70/30. An All Season would be like 90/10.

Just wanted to share some insight on my experiences. I've done some modding to fit some 285's on a previous Tacoma and ended up welding a new cab mount (they call it a cab mount relocation) but I think all you will end up needing is some light trimming to stop the rub on the Maverick? Are they only rubbing at full lock and/or in reverse and such? From my experience, a lot of people skip it thinking they can get away with it and say things like "how often do you turn at full lock?"... and I'd definitely advise against ignoring the rub and instead just getting it taken care of especially if you plan on keeping the 70R's up there in the future. With my Tacoma the rub was so bad I didn't last a week before I was in the shop fixing it. Not sacrificing any amount of tread on such expensive tires if I don't have to. And I guess I'm one of the few who actually turn at full lock pretty often  (also factor in the flex of uneven terrain and turning, so that only increases the chance to rub as well).

Anyways, looks good! (y)
Good choice keeping those stock wheels. If I had a set like that on my truck vs. the gloss black ones I would have kept them as well. And I'm right there with ya on waiting for an AWD version of the Hybrid. If they can do it in the Escapes they can do it here.

I appreciate the informative reply, I definitely think the 65s would have made more sense and I probably can get away with them too because this truck will only go so far off road anyway. Also considering just getting a second pair of wheels for normal driving with a less aggressive tire but in time ill get it all tuned in.

You should look into lighter AT tires that ARNT 'LT' or "10 Ply' then

I have 245/65/r17 AT tires that ARNT 'LT' and they wieght 31 lbs and dont touch my MPG on my Ecoboost. ive used them in all conditions from -40C to +40C and all condition, ice, snow, rain. they perform as any other tire for those conditions

Try them out yourself and see if it helps your MPG

Love your truck BTW
