Similar to the drawing I've seen...but looking at the pinouts for the connector, I see I mistakenly thought that pins 1 and 4 were both power, and NO THEY'RE NOT.

I appreciate your input and if I had borked the module, at least we know who's to blame, eh?

Years ago I worked for a TV ratings research company and spent 9 weeks of training to learn how to connect signal capturing devices to TVs, VCRs, cable and satellite boxes, etc. The lab had a haze of 'magic smoke' wafting around the room as we newbies learned valuable lessons on precise solder application and where to NEVER EVER touch the PCB on the back of the picture tube, EVER.
It was a cool job but these days they get all the data they need with no soldering required, often right from the content providers themselves.

Just a quick note to let you know I am putting together a parts/vendor list that adds the USB module and wiring kit to AkroHD's display cubby mount with the USB module insert...since the kit from Akro HD is no longer available, I am working on sourcing and putting together the required parts in a list for you DIY types (If you're short on time and would rather just buy the module with the wiring already assembled, I may be persuaded to offer that service at a fair price). Note: You'll still need to get the cubby and USB module 'trim' pieces from AkroHD. I'm not doing this to take business away from them...they make a fine product, but I've seen the level of interest in adding the USB module to the cubby and want to help others get theirs added too.

Once the parts arrive and I can guarantee that it works on my trucklet I will post the parts list (and the vendors I got them from) here. It may be a week before that happens, so stay tuned!

Nice, let us know how the installation goes. The DIY stuff on this forum is amazing for a less skilled guy like myself, I'm learning a lot, really fun to discover this club content.

The extra ports just come in so handy; I wish the truck had come with more USB ports installed, but c'est la vie. I have an Android wireless puck plugged into one of the stock USBs and use the added-on ports for charging...
