I think the 0.4" taller is because of 235 instead of 225 tire size although I would expect it would be a push for 235. Does FX4 come with 245's. Also expect some if not all difference would be in suspension!
Fx4 comes with 225/65 r17 = 8.3 clearance
Fx4 with optional 235/65 r17 =8.6 clearance
I put 245/65 r17 =9.3 clearance

245 is about the max b4 getting a lift or any other modification.

I am looking at BFG Trail Terrain A/T
These I like because of load range to help with side wall strength as I have had bad experiences with 65/R17's in past and much better with 70/R16's. I live 10 miles from a 4 light town and expect 80-85% over 50 mph driving. So be doing good to get 36 mpg, after correcting speedo readout. I do have 4-6 miles/day of unpaved. Oh I wll have Hybrid XLT Lux. Worried about 9.80" section width so most likely will settle for 235's.

That's more tire weight. Also the bfg trail terrain doesn't come in 245/65 r17 only the all terrain ko2 does they have them in 235/65 r17 but the trail terrain still weigh more and give less ground clearance than the toyos do

@MakinDoForNow Could also look up the wild peaks unless u just prefer the look and/or name of the bfgs
I have been fighting tire wear, air retention, etc with 225/65/R17 on RAV4 (cured with ??/70/R16, at that time had 70 miles every other day unpaved, had to add air after each round trip with 65's). Have Honda CR-V now, eats tires but holds air well. Thinking tire with greater load rating (not 102H but 108-112) be better. Might not be an issue at all for maverick but if 16" rim fits I will probably go with that but need tire that can handle gravel and crushed rock from time to time. Thinking longer wheel base on maverick will help some. Looked at nokian rotiiva they are unbelievably light weight for their stated load range? Makes me wonder. Thanks for putting up with this.

I am sure this has been asked, but.... is there a way to reprogram so that if one puts on larger diameter tires, you can get accurate speedometer output?

There should be with Forscan like previous Ford's for the last 20 years.. But until someone actually conforms (which seeing all the taller tires should be soon) that is just a guess.
