Not sure if this is the correct area... but I'll start here.
We all like to see how many mpg we get on our trips. I've noticed that if I make a stop on the way home but leave the engine running and open my driver's door - it resets my drive.
Yesterday I took a new way home to see if my mpg would improve that way. 18 miles either way I go. I stopped at a recycle center to get rid of a few boxes. When I pulled in I was at 47mpg but still had 5 miles to go to the house. Left the engine running, opened the door. Got back in the car only to find everything reset on THis Trip. FYI those next 5 miles I got 67mpg.
Is that common?
