Key Cutting for Keyfobs

I have an XLT and would love to have a key that just opens the door. I do a lot of water and beach detecting and would love to be able to leave my fob in the car and carry the metal key in a zippered pocket.

Got this "test key" from a local mobile locksmith. She uses these to make sure she can actually cut a "fob-key" for a customer.

I got a set of keys cut for $10 each from E-bay (China) like others did on this site. About 8 days and keys worked perfectly in door and tail gate, no sticking, perfect! Just make sure you send a good set of photos to them. I sent photos of just the cut blade area and they wanted the key with the head. I sent more photos to them and keys were cut within an hour in China. I guess they reference the cut from the bottom of head and tip of key. Just remember to send a number of good photos, they will select the best photo to use. See attached document with my photo on the left and produced key on right. In real life, the keys are identical in all respects.
