I have lariat first edition. I looked under mine and their not only does it appear to have room in front of the spare for an electric motor placed crossways to the bed with axle shafts protruding towards each wheel on the drivers side there is (get ready for this = "drum roll") an orange high voltage harness with what appears to be a return line going back towards the front of truck. I envision this connection (see picture) as being unplugged from each other and then being plugged each into a rear motor. Most likely ready for and installation with the return part of the harness handling the Regen current.

I would prefer AWD when my Maverick finally becomes a reality, but the two-wheel drive version is FRONT wheel drive and is good enough for most of us most of the time. It seldom snows in my corner of the world and a gravel road is all the "off roading" I ever do. Gaining an extra two drive wheels isn't as big a deal as if the standard truck was rear wheel drive.

The only benefit rear wheel or AWD has over front wheel drive for a truck is if you are carrying or hauling a large load that makes the back squat.
Most people most of the time will never know the difference.
But when you do need it it sure is nice.

I guess there is no snow in Oklahoma these days. AWD is highly useful in the snow, especially going up hills.

Two wheel front drive is good for me. I was just pointing out that on my hybrid it appears to have a high voltage wiring harness with an open space between the rear wheels large enough for possibly a drive motor. May be possible install AWD presumably with additional or larger HVB.
