I ordered a set of mud flaps along with the hood protecter from a local Ford dealer. They arrived this morning and after having shoulder surgery I decided to get a price to have them put on. On the Ford website it says $36 for each pair and $60 for the hood protector. That comes to $132 for everything installed. He quoted me a price of $352. Maybe aftermarket labor isn’t the least expensive than factory installed.. Salem Ford in N.H.

$352......OUCH! Neither item was very difficult, though it would suck trying to do it outside in the current weather (if yours is currently like it is here) Not even sure you can install the hood deflector when it's this cold out?

they're not tough to do at all, the hood deflector, just be precise, cause once it's stuck on, that's where it's at (blue painters tape is big help to get it lined up where you want it).

But if your shoulder surgery was the same as my surgery (rotator cuff repair) then you have a while for that sucker to be well enough - and limber enough - to do the work! Still, it is better on the wallet to wait for recovery and DIY than pay that price at the dealer.

Return them to the dealership and reorder from Ford accessories with labor checked off. Then you don’t have to worry about them or another dealership trying to bend you over on labor.

You are surprised that an individual shop with American wages is more expensive than an assembly line with Mexican wages?
The labor cited on the Ford Accessories site are for install at your local dealership. It’ll take under an hour to install both items.

I'd put them on for you in a second if you were in the area. Anyone around who could help you and not have to pay the dealer prices?

Hire a handy man to come do it? They probably charge $50/hr or so (area dependent). You can help, oversee, and probably save money over either option.

Much appreciated. I was in the trades so I don’t have a problem putting them on but only six weeks out of rotator cuff surgery, otherwise I would do it myself..
