Hybrids showing up on Ford.com Inventory Site

What is the significance of Hybrids with Window Stickers assigned to a specific dealer showing up on the Ford inventory website, then when you call said dealer they know nothing about it and have to research it? It’s also not on the dealer’s website. The salesman confirmed it was not a customer order and was not on hold for anyone, but they ‘d have to get back to me about specifics. There were two of the exact same build right together, assigned to two separate dealers, with VIN numbers just 1 number apart. Could it be they are stock vehicles? I thought Ford was only making customer orders right now.

I hope like hell these hybrids are customers and NOT stock orders! If they turn out to be stock orders that would be a real slap in the face to all of us still waiting for build dates!

The link will reset to a default search mode when you click it, so try entering zip code 75023 for Plano, TX in your search for 100 miles out, then clicking the 2.5 hybrid engine option, then it pulls up 24 matches. The ones I clicked appear to have window stickers with the hybrid engine.

FWIW, Had a Lariat Hybrid 60mi from me on Monday. Viewed window sticker-called dealer. Salesman clueless and had to research the # to even believe me. Said he didn't know status and it was probably customer order. Would have to check and call me back. Realizing the chaos, I declined.

The salesman I spoke to said it was not a customer order but still waiting for additional info from him. If they are customer orders, then Ford is pulling some shady crap on us.

There are some Hybrids in transit and recently arrived at dealers around me. This confirms that Ford is filling dealer stock over filling customer orders, including not scheduling mine. Can't understand this business model, build a bunch of stock for the dealers to markup, instead of filling customer orders. Shame on Ford.

Yeah, I called a couple other dealers in Texas and they are clueless too. One dealer said it was a chip home, another had no idea whatsoever.

I'd bet they're retail orders and they're just listing them to get "leads."

Since the window stickers show special order on some of them, if the dealer has that many hybrids that are not going to customers then they are one of the dealers that put in fake customer orders to get their own stock. but likely they are showing customers orders to get leads like brnpttmn says.

That’s what I thought at first but the VIN numbers are all very close within a couple digits and Betty similar builds and these are distributed throughout North Texas and Oklahoma. Makes me think that Ford made a batch of dealer stock.

I believe that if the widow stickers is green and shows special order at the bottom then it belongs to a retail order, if it’s blue then it should be a stock order, I have seen the same thing on the internet inventory search but none of the dealers have any idea what I’m talking about.

But just like with the eco boost trucks some custom orders will not be buying their hybrids for a variety of reasons. So eventually dealers will be able to sell some hybrids for whatever the market will bring.
