Hi everyone,
Most of us know of the issue with the Hybrid regenerative brakes failing to transition from electronic to hyrdaulic braking ineffectively resulting in the brakes to engage forcefully and suddenly below 10 km/h. I have experienced this issue with my hybrid and it seems to be getting a bit worse at ~20k miles.
I know there is a software update available that can be performed at the dealership, however, I was curious if that module(s) can be updated via Forscan?
I ask because we’re pretty remote where I live and if I can save the hours long time it takes waiting at the dealership, that would be a plus.
Although, I highly doubt Forscan can correctly update those particular modules, and could prove unsafe even if attempted….but I’d at least thought I’d ask y’all to double check.
Thanks!

Short answer no.

Long answer,

Only way to update the ecu is to use Ford's proprietary software. You can rent the software for $50 for the day but I have no idea what hardware you need.

Best bet is to get the dealer to update the ecu.

Yup!
Sounds about right.
Looks like one would probably need a VCM 3 or something similar.
Not worth it outside of owning a shop, maybe.
I’ll just have set aside a day and do it. 🤷
