The Maverick does a great job hauling my Honda Transalp. I expected the tall windshield to buffet at highway speeds but it's dead smooth. I continue to be very impressed with this little truck. The bike is 460lbs dry. With accessories and fuel it's likely sitting at 500lbs in the photo. The independent rear suspensions rides nice empty and handles a load with very little drop. I'm still sitting slightly high in the rear.

Just a thought... you might consider putting the bike in at an angle to avoid loading the center of the tailgate so heavily. Cramming the wheel into a corner does add a little stability also.

Glad to hear that. Have seen picture of someone loading an Africa Twin back there as well. As mentioned by Jim I would place the bike in an angle as well. Will be putting my XR400R in the back of my truck on Friday of this week and will deliver to the buyer about 140 miles away. Obviously the XR is much lighter and should definitely not have an issue. Will post some pictures later on this week.

I’ve hauled it both ways and works fine. I have some other gear to put alongside the bike for the trip. I am going to add a wheel chock for the front tire.

If you wouldn't mind, could you put up a photo of how you have the front wheel locked in place?

You might want to check this MTC tread from Feb 1, 2024, it is on page 2, and is post #18 which was posted Feb 4, 2024 by ‘More w/Les’.

The .pdf file attached to that posting goes into great detail about fabricating an assembly for loading and hauling my 2019 CB 500X in my Mav.

Very nicely done. I like it. Do you happen to have the measurements that get you from the hitch up and around to the top surface of the tailgate? My truck is in Oregon and I'm back home in Alaska. I have a full metal fab shop with CNC equipment and would like to do something similar for supporting the rear of the bike. Thanks for posting.

Just am observation. Have you tried or seen the handle bar grips tie downs 🤔. That was a must for my dad whenever he moved his bikes. I used them on my dirt bikes.

I've tied off to bars quite a bit. There are two straps that you can't see in the photo up front running from the frame near the triple clamp to the bed tie downs.

Yeah 500 pounds is a light load, just enough to set a little into the suspension.
My Ecoboost Lariat rides better than empty with a quarter ton in the back.

Need to some digging in my files, might take a few days. Currently involved a major construction project, and finding time for anything outside of work is hard.

Have made quite a few alterations since the original posting. Trying to update the referenced PDF file with more current details and product info.

The worst issue to deal with is the tailgate, which when down, droops at the rear edge. See attached photo. This created several problems for me, which I dealt with on another thread. You might try looking up my postings, there is quite a bit detailed info in them. Unfortunately there are quite a few threads that relate to loading a MTC in the Maverick bed.

This was/is a headache issue, took several revisions to reach an acceptable solution. Still not 100% satisfied, but works OK until I, or someone, can come up with something better.

Will try to incorporate all of my related posting in my revised PDF.

Thank you! I'd hoped to get a 3D scan of the truck with the tailgate down but ran short of time on my trip. Love seeing the creativity. Thanks for sharing!

I checked, my tailgate is level with my bed.
You must have stretched the cables ?
