Alternatively you can swap out your APIM module with one with SYNC3, add an aftermarket satellite antenna and wire and program it to enable siriusxm in the module itself. There are threads on how to do that on this site.

I just use the app on my phone since I have a subscription in another car. It works great with apple car play showing all the stations, song info, album art on the head unit
I use the app too with my Google Pixel. I use the subscription from my husband's car for no extra $$ and can listen to the internet only stations. Only constraint is cell coverage.

They still make XM receivers that you could buy, or use the XM app on your phone. Unless you are technically skilled and want to tear apart your dash to upgrade the whole system with Escape parts

FORSCAN and as-built info will be needed if you swap in an APIM with SiriusXM. Checking compatibility is important, from what I’ve read. Some websites have APIM kits.

Originally, I installed a Commander Touch SiriusXL radio. Here's a link where my installation and other SiriusXM experiences start.
The problem with the Commander Touch is that the display has to go somewhere. Although, the display is small, the screen is bright and text can be clearly seen. I moved it around here and there and abhorred the vent mounts.
I have an old Sirius Xact Visor XTR3 ACTIVE Radio with LIFETIME SUBSCRIPTION and I'm kinda tired of the SiriusXM Commander Touch mounted on the driver's side center HVAC vent; plus, it's getting warm in Texas and I need the vent. So, I removed it and cancelled the subscription. I then installed the old Xact XTR3 radio with the life time subscription.
It's funky looking and I still have it located in the front left bin of the center console. I've been thinking about a different location, but haven't tried anything. I have a remote for it so changing channels is easy.
If you want free SiriusXM, then these are available here and there online...I'd check eBay. The seller's should tell you if it has a lifetime subscription or not.
I had already installed the SiriusXM antenna so I'm using that one. I got to wondering if the XL shark antenna included something that would pick up SiriusXM. So, I purchased a Fakra Z Female to Fakra Z Male to SMB Female Adapter Splitter Cable RG174 on Amazon to check and see if the Shark Fin antenna would pickup SiriusXM satelite signal.
I unplugged the blue Fakra connection located in the J9 spot that is evidently for Global Navigation Satelite System, and installed the splitter. After pluggin the SMB connector to my SiriusXM radio, it when from telling me there is no signal to acquiring signal. Well, it just got my hopes up because it searched...searched...and searched some more, It never acquired a signal. I didn't look at the diagram before plugging it in so I tried the splitter on the other connector at the J8 (AM/FM/DAB) spot.
Obviously, the splitter is not the answer. I'm not sure what the answer is...shoot, I forgot the question.
All I was trying to do is be able to remove the SiriusXM antenna I installed behind the Shark Antenna just above the 3rd brake light, to no avail.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that was wondering if the Shark Antenna on the XL had an antenna that would pick up SiriusXM. I assume it does not thinking that the seller told the truth about what the spitter accomplished. If anyone needs a Fakra Splitter with an SMB antenna feed, just let me know. Again...just FYI.
I also use a 128GB USB stick with over 4500 songs. It's actually my choice for music now.

Shame on me, but they allow it.....
With the SXM subscription we have on the wife's Buick, we also get streaming service... which works great with Android Auto. Since I have unlimited data, I just play through A. A. and I swear it sounds better than any vehicle using the built in receiver.

We have Sirius in our 2015 Ford Edge and in our 2020 Jayco RV.
I like it but it is EXPENSIVE.
I am running Amazon Prime streaming music in the new Maverick.
We already had Prime for shopping and TV . Adding music is no additional cost.
If I can get the expensive RV's cheap-a$$ radio to pair with one of our phones I'll drop Sirius off that vehicle. We'll probably keep it on the car, for now anyway.
