How does trade-in work when reserving / pre ordering?

How does it work with trade-ins? Do i get a commitment before hand? My spidey senses tell me that if i show up with a trade in on pick up day the sales person will try to stiff me because im already committed......

Always work on best price OTD just for the vehicle you want 1st. Get finance pre-approved too if you are doing that. Once OTD $ is locked in you can choose to discuss trade in- or not. I did that with my 2013 Grand Cherokee. I also detailed out my low miles 2007 Pontiac Vibe for trade bait and took it to Carmax and got their 7 day guaranteed offer before visiting Jeep dealer. Dealer tried every trick in the book to get my Vibe for nothing but I kept refusing and told him about the Carmax offer in my back pocket he would have to meet or beat and I planned to pay cash for Jeep. Once we arrived at OTD price for Grand Cherokee, the Vibe came up again- and he shit when I showed the Carmax offer, but he ended up subracting that offer of $6500 from the Jeep deal while I wrote a check for the rest
