I've had my Maverick hybrid for three months now and of course am still like a little kid opening my Christmas present when I jump into it for a drive.😆

Naturally I always see the "All Electric" notification when I start it up but then it switches to the little gasoline moniker within a minute or two. Other than actually feeling/hearing the engine running how does one tell when the hybrid is only using electric power? Just curious. Your thought please!

I appreciate the question, but, I have an Eco Boost so it's all gas. Eat more beans. Keep enjoying your little truck.

Using the menu controls on the right side of the steering wheel, switch the instrument cluster screen to "EV COACH."

Yes I agree but it's so darn quiet at times that I'm not so sure the engine is running or not. Lol. A good problem to have, I suppose.

I found EV Coach to be distracting. My preferred setup is in the 1st photo. If I were driving instead of parked, the top left would show average MPG for my trip, top right is trip odometer, bottom right is miles-to-empty, and bottom left is Instantaneous MPG. The other 2 photos show my settings.

Instantaneous MPG is interesting because it shows you the effect of a heavy or light foot on the gas pedal as you drive, AND it turns blue and displays the word "Electric" when you're running in electric mode. You don't have to take your eye off the road for more than a fraction of a second to interpret data; you'll just get used to seeing something blue in that lower left corner when you're running on battery power.

My wife has a PHEV fusion energi and I’m fascinated at how quiet it is on ev. (Driving) I came up to my wife on a walk and was talking to her as it was rolling along. She said how is it rolling like that? It was on and moving completely silent. I can tell when the engine kicks in, albeit smoothly though.

My grandson drives a 3/4 ton diesel and had never been around a hybrid period, much less a Maverick. When he came in a few weeks ago, he went with me somewhere and when we got in and pulled off, he looked strange and said "that is the quietest motor I have ever heard." Gotta love the Mav.

Just like the EV Coach, which has only one thing.... some find EV coach less distracting. ( and more useful )
