I went to HD today for a 2x6x8 and spied this right at the entrance. It not full bed coverage, but for the price it works for me to stop things from sliding around… for ~ $20

Another option is a section of horse stall mat. You can cut it to fit the contours of the bed and get complete coverage.

It looks like you could buy two and turn them 90 degrees. You'd have to do some trimming but I bet you could get almost 100% coverage.

Not sure how heavy they are, but it's conceivable to me that the mat could get sucked out of the bed at highway speed.
Unless you hold it down with lumber, like you did.

There was a suggestion to use the horse mats. Those are really heavy. They would probably last a lifetime. I have a friend who’s using one in his F150

One 4x6 does the job. I haven’t trimmed it yet since it fits good enough. Rolling up the sides is useful sometimes.
It does like to lift in the wind. I use a bed cover when not hauling.
