A couple weeks ago I learned my 2005 Tundra would no longer be able to pass inspection, so the wife and I unwillingly got into the market for a new truck. I've wanted a Maverick since they were announced, but as everyone knows, there's a bit of a shortage. As it turned out, my wife's coworker knew someone that ordered one but wouldn't be able to take delivery of it. We made our way to the dealership, fought off all the other buyers, and took possession of a 2022 Ford Maverick XLT in Hot Pepper Red.

I've put a bit over 500 miles on it so far, and I'm loving it. I average around 26 mpg right now back and forth to work, while I tend to get high 30's during highway travel ( I tend to keep it in ECO mode). Either one is MUCH better than I was seeing with the Tundra. I had really wanted to get my hands on an AWD model for when we visit my in-laws in the mountains, but as long as it isn't snowing heavily up there, I think we'll be fine. Right now, my next project is to figure out a way to tote our kayaks in it. The guy that ordered the truck didn't include a trailer hitch, so I might have to get creative.

Wow, you fell into a nice step up. Good job!
You should be able to bolt on an aftermarket hitch with no problems. Look up DrawTight (sp?), they're just one supplier. Racks for the kayaks should be easy too.

Awesome, thank you for the info. I'll check them out right now.
