Picked up my XLT Hybrid equipped with co-pilot 360 and luxury packages. Hill descent is active and I'm unable to turn it off. The manual (pg 203) references a "center console button" which I assume only comes with the AWD model since it's not there. The vehicle and driver assistance menu doesn't appear to provide an on-off option. At least I haven't been able to find it and I've tried every option/feature path. Is this something associated with regenerative charging that can't be disabled for the hybrid?

What behavior is it exhibiting? If you are in Eco or L mode then the automatic regenerative braking that occurs with 0% throttle input is stronger. In normal mode there is going to be a bit of regen braking with 0% throttle.

Or is it actually displaying a hill descent indicator and/or dialog information on the instrument cluster?

Is it that exact indicator? In my xlt hybrid, I have a similar icon that's green but doesn't have the speedometer. Comes on during any significant downward grade. No clue what it means. Couldn't find any reference to it in the owners guide.

I think it was orange (?) in color showing a vehicle descending a hill. Can't recall if the speedometer displayed now that you ask. Braking results in the vehicle holding the slower speed when the brake is released. Accelerating then releasing results in the vehicle maintaining the higher speed. Definitely more than what I observe when braking on a flat surface. I plan to discuss with the service department Monday (1/3) and will post what comes of it. Thanks for responding.

Took it out today and you are correct. Green vehicle icon on a slope. My first hybrid so I guess I over reacted to the regenerative charging impact on the down slope combined with that hill descent icon. The Ford co-pilot 360 videos show a "grade assist" on-off feature but don't indicate it may be specific to a model/options configuration. All the above led me to have some initial concerns. Thanks for your information and advice.

Glad I could help. I had literally just seen the icon and searched the manual for any references when you posted.
