Reddit advised I post here too for visibility.

I need advice.

Short verson: I've been making payments on my Mav that's been in the shop for 8 months. It needs one part, the front right apron, to be drivable. Ford won't help, says they will only expedite the part once available. They have not released a single unit of this part for repairs. Insurance won't help or total the vehicle, says I just have to wait for the part to be available (which could be another 8 monts). Loan company won't help, wants me to take out another loan and pay two car loans. Months of phone calls and wasted time. Borrowed a vehicle without AC to get to work in the Texas summer.

I'm prepared to do anything at this point.

Options?

Extra Info:
The part is NZ6Z16054A, the front right apron. The radiator and other stuff mounts to it and is considered structural. This part will appear online for sale, however when ordered will only state it is on backorder. Further research and hours of phone calls later, I've learned Ford only makes this part for new vehicles and has not released a single one for repairs, per the official Dearborn Michigan, Ford customer service center and also the parts department as of Monday, 11/10/2022.

The car isn't drivable, due to the part being considered structural and other parts mount onto it.

start calling salvage yards all over the country. that's all i can offer for advice. sorry.
Unless their insurance policy guarantees new, OE replacement which ironically could scupper that angle because the body shop probably won't want to risk not getting reimbursed installing a part out of the terms of repair.

Between things like this, the recalls, and the myriad defects, I am really reconsidering this as my next vehicle.

I ran the number on the Part Status screen that I use at my work, they are showing to come off B/O 11/17/22, then it takes 3 weeks to E-coat it (whatever that means), so hopefully in the near future for you.

Well it looks like there are 7 other people waiting on that part.

And I would say that the DOW message is incorrect about a 3 week wait on e-coating. They would not ship to National just to ship back out to e-coat, unless they are talking about the 12 to the packager. The way I see it, it should ship around 11/17.
