My experience was very different.Hello and welcome! The Maverick fills the void of a small, economical truck. If you get the chance to drive one, a little virus gets inside you. It causes you to keep glancing at your budget at odd times of the day. Then you find yourself dreaming of owning one.
Then, finally, you go "visit" your local dealership just one more time. And there it is. The perfect Maverick. The color you want. The accessories you want. The virus starts making you itch. Then the unbelievable pricing is revealed to you and you go for it!
Now, you leave the dealership on a high you have never experienced! You laugh in a voice that you don't recognize! You now have the Maverick Virus. You will start to buy accessories. You will post pictures, you will wave at strangers! There is no vaccine for this! But you don't care...............you have a Maverick 12-step family to visit here. We are here for you!
I first saw a Maverick in the steel at a multi-make dealer show at my local convention center in the fall of 2023. It really was the only vehicle that interested me. I had needed a new vehicle for a few years, but a long bout of unemployment meant my funds were low.
In early 2024, I got a big bonus from my job. I went to a dealership to try to take a test drive, but they only had one Maverick in stock, a Tremor on the showroom floor, and they wouldn't let anyone drive it.
Taking a gulp and making a leap of faith, I ordered an AWD EcoBoost XLT with 4K towing package on Leap Day. Not long after that, I discovered this forum, and learned a LOT in the 8 months it took for my truck to be delivered.
What was most useful to me during that time was the production tracking information, especially the weekly updates on scheduled production. Even when it dashed my hopes (I could see they were out of my wheels and/or tires all summer), it let me at least know why my truck hadn't been scheduled for production yet. Ford's 45-day non-updates were worthless.
