Has anyone seen an option for turning on/setting the headlights show up on the dash screen when starting the truck? It happened twice yesterday and had the truck for a year and have never seen this before? Not on the info (radio) screen, the instrument cluster “behind” the steering wheel?

There is nothing in the owners manual other than the notation that the headlamps always default to automatic every time the vehicle is turned on. That appears to be the only setting method.

The only instrument screen notification I've ever seen, is when the headlight selector switch is turned, and then it's just the standard notification like you get for door ajar, seatbelts, etc.

There are no menu options I've been able to find to set the headlight option on startup, and I've looked, as I'd like the default to be off. If you find a way, please post it.

I found nothing on it in the manual either?
I have the headlight switch set to auto. Have never seen this pop up in the screen, it appears to give option to CHANGE the setting with the arrows on the steering wheel. Didn’t stay up for long, going to have phone handy yo try to take a pic of it shows up again?

Maybe this is done on the screen now for the 25MY.
Or it gives a visual now to the stalk method.

Switching Headlamp Exit Delay On and Off

To switch headlamp exit delay on, pull the turn signal lever toward you when the headlamps are off and the ignition is off. A short tone sounds when the system is on.
To switch headlamp exit delay off, pull the turn signal lever toward you again or switch your vehicle on.
Note: The headlamps turn off after three minutes with any door open or 30 seconds after the last door closes.

@HeyBales - I was aware of the headlight exit delay setting, but I think the OP was talking about an ability to set the startup mode on the headlights themselves, which always defaults back to auto.
That was my take on the post.

There is no option mentioned in the manual, and there is no menu option on my XL that I could find.
Maybe this could be a Forscan item, but no idea if that's possible.

In my 2022 hybrid lariat that is (or was before a program update) referred to as courtesy lights delay (on/off selectable in 2 or 3 time periods on menu on steering wheel). Note that when you get to porch to turn them off before time period ends pressing lock on fob twice turns courtesy lights, interior and dash, and locks truck immediately with single horn toot if lock successful or two toots if truck will not lock.

I think the OP is saying there is a new display on the screen regarding the headlights.

I thought perhaps the 25MY gave a visual for something.
Like maybe in settings you have it disabled - but informs you that you can enable 1 time use.

Considering software updates can add features and change things on 25/26MY - may not even be in the manual yet.

Autolamp Settings

Autolamp Exit Delay
You can adjust the amount of time the autolamps remain on after you switch off your vehicle. Use the touchscreen to choose a delay setting.
  1. Press Settings on the touchscreen.
  1. Press Vehicle.
  1. Press Lighting.
  1. Press Autolamp Delay.
  1. Press a setting.
Note: If the setting is off, the external lamps switch off immediately when you shut down your vehicle.
Note: You can pull the turn signal toward you to manually switch off the autolamp exit delay.

Yep, I know what the OP said, it's my conjecture that he might have thought he saw an option for setting the headlight switch default position when it was actually the headlight delay he saw.
If he gets a picture of the fleeting image, that would help, but he also said it was intermittent.

If the ability to change to a different headlight setting on startup was added, they also did an incredibly great job of hiding it, as that option shows up nowhere that is end user accessible.

To have lights NOT come on at startup have to forscan and select "police dark mode"

My 2025 XLT Hybrid showed the headlight screen yesterday and a couple of other times since my June '25 purchase. Have not figured out what caused it either.
