Has Ford looked at replacing Maverick's smart chips with programmable controller or minicomputer?

Has Ford looked at replacing any parts on back order with new designs? Maybe a programmable controller or minicomputer could replace some of these smart chips. We in industry use these items often.

There is a deep supply chain making car chips. Most are used by different car companies. My nephew-in- laws sister works at a car chip plant and Covid hit them in multiple waves. They were considered essential workers but had to close for multiple weeks as not enough healthy people could work and the line.
