Has anyone tried a tailgate tent?

Like this one?
I see it covering the bed.

I'm planning a road trip to clear my head and would like a quick camping option for rest areas.

So the bed with the tailgate down is only 6.5ft long. Not sure if those poles standup by themselves, or what you would attach it to, it's a great idea.

I thought about doing a suv tent with our topper but ended up making a ground platform and carrier for a RTT. There have been several peaple wh found cot tents that fit well sideways in the bed and overhung the sides. All supported and nice.

If you want an actual tent I can link you to one that fits decently enough. Although I do recommend the Kamp-Rite for 1-2 people along with either wood beams or the BamBed kit...based off the images and write ups ive seen its pretty slick!

Interesting option. I like that you can keep using the bottom of the bed for storage.
Unfortunately, it seems a bit unstable. Also, I'd drill a plywood over those 2x4. A follow-up video would be nice to see what happened to those tube legs.

In Canada, the Kamp Rite is twice the price of the Napier. So, that kinda settles it for me...
