My sound deadening journey was a long process.
After adding an engine cover, hood liner backed with dynamat, and Bronco Sport cowl insulator it seemed most of the direct injection racket was emanating from the wheel wells and front grill area. I added the fender insulators, an intake manifold insulator from the Ford Edge and additional weather stripping on the sides of the engine bay. Now I would consider the engine noise outside the vehicle to be acceptable.
I also added OEM Thinsulate insulation throughout the interior. Mostly between the dash and firewall. I would say interior sound levels are more than acceptable.
Every step helped but no one addition was a magic bullet.
