So, I would be willing to wait for my truck if I knew it would arrive some time in 2023, but I'm fairly sure it won't... So thinking I'm going to order a Civic Manual before dealers all run out of allocations for them too... I'll try again for a Mav in three or four years when my wife is scheduled for a new car. I think she wants a Mav even more than me... Maybe PHEV or EV available then.

The question is: do I ask the dealer for my deposit back. Or do I keep waiting and sell the truck for over MSRP to someone else when it arrives.

Odds are, the truck never arrives as dealer is way over allocations and I didn't place until last day (I tried to get in on a below invoice deal out of town on day one and they didn't get back to me in time so I did MSRP locally)... But there's always a chance.

Has anyone turned around and immediately sold their Maverick, did you get more than MSRP?

You will also need to get more than the sales tax you pay on it.

Were you a holdover from 2022? If yes, I think you should be good for 2023.

Dangerous game. Flipping may work, but I will say my dealer has a lot more stock vehicles (of any kind) on their lot today than this time a year ago. With interest rates climbing and the economy officially in a recession, the era of car flipping may be coming to an end.

I have a feeling there will be a good percentage of the retail orders abandoned due to changing economic circumstances.

As long as you don't have a VIN yet, apologize to your dealer and ask for your deposit back while explaining that you aren't interested in the vehicle anymore. If you do have your VIN, talk to your dealer and say that you aren't interested in the vehicle and if they think they can sell it off their lot accept your deposit back. Why burn bridges with your dealer if it isn't their fault?

I have no plan to sell but put my Maverick information into Carvana. Hybrid Xlt Lux and only came back at 25k. With price protection and a rebate I was 29k OTD.

Ahhh... Good points. I'll just get my deposit back then. Probably least risky move. Just hate that a dealership is going to turn around and stick $10k on it if it does arrive. 🤣

There's no vin and probably never will be (the question itself is probably moot for that reason) I was 15 of 9 allocated.

It's a refundable deposit and they said when I placed it they had no issue with me cancelling if I decided to because they would just sell it anyway if it arrived. They'd probably prefer I cancel, they usually have a $2500 dealer add on that I got them to cancel for me. Even without a market adjustment they would make more money selling it off the lot than selling it to me. They probably hope I cancel. 🤣

No, when I first decided to buy they had already closed the order banks for '22. I'm new as '23 order with priority 19.... And a hybrid.... And dealer close to double their allocation.
